5 Pillars of Disinfecting Vehicles

1

PREPARATION

Set up all your required cleaning chemicals, tools and equipment. Make sure you know how to use the chemicals and equipment is working properly. You must have a copy of the SDS for all the chemicals that you are going to use. Know what to do in case of spills or other accidental exposure. Make sure your first aid kits, spill kits, fire extinguishers are up to date in case of an emergency.

2

PROTECT YOURSELF

Put on the right protective gear. Wash your hands and sanitise before putting a new pair of gloves on. Use a face / respiratory mask to avoid inhaling dust particles. Wear clean coveralls or a uniform and proper footwear.

3

CLEANING

Remove any dust, soil and grime from the surface using a clean cloth and a good cleaner. Vacuum with a HEPA Filter. Use the right cleaning chemicals and proper tools. Disinfecting won’t be effective if your surface is not clean.

4

DISINFECTING

Apply especially to the common hotspots and follow the dwell time of 10 minutes (or manufacturer’s recommended dwell time) before wiping dry. Avoid over saturation of porous surfaces. For the electronic components, take extra precaution and follow the manufacturer’s recommendation.

5

FINISHING

Avoid shaking dirty cloths. Launder dirty cloths and clothes. Dispose off dirty gloves. Avoid bringing your shoes and dirty clothes to another area. Properly wash and sanitise your hands.
