Bacteria vs Virus

  BACTERIA  VIRUS
Dependence on host Do not need a host
to reproduce
Need a living organism to reproduce

Size Small, microscopic Microscopic,
10 to 100x smaller
than a bacteria

Structure  Has a cell wall
Is unicellular
Has a single chromosome present
Does not have a cell wall
but has a protein coat.
Does not have cells.
Contain a strand of DNA/RNA

Benefits

Can be beneficial
(like aids in digestion)
or harmful

Mostly harmful

Reproduction  Through binary fission
and conjugation
By invading host cell

Treatment  Can be prevented
through antibiotics
Can be prevented
by vaccines

Transmission  Can be similar in some ways like being exposed to droplets and then touching eyes, nose and mouth

How do they reproduce?
Bacteria reproduce by Binary Fission. A binary fission happens when a cell grows twice as big as its normal size, makes a complete copy of everything including its genetic material and then splits into two.
A virus needs a host to reproduce. It attaches itself to the host cell, injects its DNA to form proteins. They spread out when the newly formed virus breaks out from the infected cell and attaches to other cells to repeat the process. They also spread by waiting for the cell to reproduce.
